Heart Valentines

I found these cute little plastic hearts from Michael's and used heart erasers as the treat inside. Hurrah, another candy free valentine. My only dilemma was how to put her name on them. I went with labels and placed them on the bottom. Easy peasy!

Fish Valentines

I love all the creative Valentines out there. This year I am trying to avoid giving away candy with the Valentines for both my kids' class. I randomly picked up some fish stickers that I wanted to add to the Valentine. It was a little more difficult to incorporate a strip of stickers with the Valentine, but I figured out a way to thread the stickers through the cutout in the fish. I found the cute saying via Jasey's Crazy Daisy.  It works perfectly!

Valentine's Treat Bags

I'm helping put together Valentine's treat bags for my daughter's class and ran into a snag.  The goodies that were going into the bags for the boys didn't fit.  I needed to come up with another bag for them that was bigger and of course it was late at night and I couldn't run to the store.  What I did have on hand were plenty of brown paper bags.  My husband didn't think they'd be fancy enough. :)  He knows me better than that! Like I would leave them as brown paper bags.  Ha!  I came across a tutorial on printing directly on the paper bags with your printer.  Oh my goodness, the possibilities are endless.  I'm definitely doing this from now on.  To get the paper bag through your printer you just need to tape the bottom flap of the bag down.  The fantastic "I Dig You!" graphic came from One Charming Party. I thought it was perfect! I punched two holes on each side and ran some ribbon through and tied a bow.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! My daughter is very excited to go off to school today and share her Valentine's and have a party at school.  I wanted to get her teacher a little something too.  I bought an orchid and to dress it up a little I painted the rim of the pot and added the little bird I made last week.  I hope she likes it.

Paper Bird

Yesterday I made this paper bird with my daughter.  She made a pink one and the one that is pictured is going with a Valentine's gift for her teacher.  I saw this craft idea at Joann Craft Store.  You can find the instructions and template under the projects section at their website.
I wanted the embossed look like the project suggests so I used a set of Fiskars texture templates.  These are really fun to play with for kids too.  My daughter thought it was pretty neat to use with her coloring book.  The paper I used is a color core paper so it has two different colors if you manipulate it.

I went ahead and embossed it. Then I used sandpaper on the embossing to get the second color to come through the paper.

Next, I cut out the pieces for the bird and assembled it using small brads.  I'm hoping I can get it to work with the Valentine's present for her teacher.  I'll show you a picture of it all next week.

Heart Wreath

Today I have a heart shaped wreath to show you.  It's a very easy project and if you've never tried to put together a wreath you should give it a try.  I like to combine different textures to give it a bit more interest.  In this wreath I found some curly grass looking material that I used as a base on the wreath.  I tacked it down using greening pins. Then I added the red roses and topped it off with a small silk ribbon. Easy, right?

Valentine's

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I've been trying to come up with a creative Valentine for the kids in my daughter's class.  I was browsing at Target and came across these colorful bubble containers. You can't go wrong with bubbles.  I dressed it up with a heart shaped tag and ribbon.
