School Bus Painting

I was commissioned to make a set of 3 paintings for a little boy's room. They liked my firetruck and backhoe painting, but wanted to add one more vehicle to the group. We went with a yellow school bus. I think it turned out pretty great! I've listed it on Etsy for future orders and have already found it on a couple treasury lists. How cool!

Batman Logo Painting

In addition to making a Batman crib mobile for my friend I also included a coordinating painting with the Batman logo and her son's name.

Cast Art

Never thought I'd be painting on a cast, but since my son broke his arm I gave it try. The first cast I painted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on his arm.

The second cast I tested my skills and painted Batman. He wanted me to position it closer on the inside of his arm so he could look at it. He was so excited to have a cast that had his favorite characters. 

Rocket Painting

Another painting for a sweet boy's room that I did awhile ago, but haven't posted. I did one for his older brother that was an airplane and train. I thought a rocket would be a great addition to their room.

Using a Stencil

I had a question come up on how to use stencils that involve multiple steps. I thought the easiest way to answer the question was to show it in process.  This video shows how to use the owl stencil that is available in my Etsy shop, LilybugPaintings.

Under the Sea Painting

I was asked to make a custom painting for a nursery via my Etsy page. I matched the nursery bedding called CoCaLo Turtle Reef. It has turtles and fish on the baby quilt. It turned out really cute and I hope the recipients are happy.

Custom Han Solo Stencil

So, it seems I took the entire summer off from blogging.  It wasn't on purpose, I promise. I seriously have 6 posts waiting to be posted, but I never got around to adding pictures to them.  Summer is always a little hectic around here.
Anyway, I've been cranking out stencils for my etsy shop and was asked to make a custom Han Solo stencil, which turned out great.  Here is the test print before I shipped the stencil.

Toucan Painting

I just finished up a painting of a Toucan for a boy nursery with a jungle theme.

Digital Paintings

I started experimenting with Digital Paintings.  It takes me a good amount of time to do a painting and I figured if I could draw it on the ipad I could produce them multiple times much quicker and for less.  I've only done a few, but here is one I drew of my daughter on the ipad and then printed it out with my printer.

Custom Stencils

I've received a few pictures from some happy customers that were pleased with how their custom stencil came out.  I wanted to share them with you.

Here is one I made to represent the Wisconsin Badgers.

Stencils - Gender Neutral Set

I just developed a gender neutral set of stencils for painting onesies.  You can see the whole set at my Etsy shop.  The set includes a tricycle, owl, kids on a bike, caterpillar, elephant, duck, umbrella and a watermelon slice. Here is a preview of kids on a bike and an elephant.

Firetruck Painting

I've been doing a few new paintings for my Etsy shop and listed a painting of a Firetruck on a 8x10 canvas.  Of course my little guy wants it for his room.  I told him I'd paint him another one.

Biplane Painting

I FINALLY finished this painting.  It's been sitting on my easel since this summer.  I made a point to get it finished this weekend.  I wanted a big painting and decided to make the biplane stretch across 3 canvases. To give you an idea on the size it's 6' wide by 2' tall.  It's for my son's room.  He is a typical boy who loves airplanes, trains, cars, dinosaurs, etc. I decided to go with the airplane theme.  My mom is working on airplane quilts for his room.  They are going to be fantastic!  I also have my husband working on dressing up his closet doors with molding.  I can't for the room to be all done.

Moroccan Wall Stencil

I decided to try out the stencils by Cutting Edge Stencils.  I went with the Rabat Allover stencil and used it as an accent wall in my entry way.  I love the way it turned out!  This project did take some patience since I needed to put three coats of the brown paint on the wall, but otherwise it wasn't difficult.  I like the idea of wallpaper, but not the fact that its such a pain to remove later if you get tired of it.  This is much better, so when I'm tired of this color or pattern I can just paint over it.

Squirrel Painting

The squirrel painting is the last of my little woodland creatures.  I was amazed at how fast this painting came together. This one is my favorite.

Meadowlark Painting

Another painting complete, a meadowlark. I'm not sure why I thought this would be easy to paint.  It turned out to be more difficult than the other two woodland creatures I painted.

Painting

I have some pre-framed canvases that I bought at a garage sale a few years ago, but they are on the small side and I haven't found much use for them yet.  I decided to get one out and paint the word "Family" on it to use for my gallery wall and add a pop of blue to the wall.  So, I painted the word Family and then decided to add it in different languages too.  Once I get another photograph printed I'll show you the gallery wall and a quick and easy way to lay them out and attach them to the wall.

Canvas Panel

I have a friend who has been in and out of the hospital this past month and wanted to send her something to cheer her up.  I found out from her sister what her favorite quote was and painted it on a canvas panel.  I don't usually use canvas panels, but I wanted it to fit inside a frame to stand up on a nightstand.  It worked fine as long as I removed the glass.  The quote is from Winnie the Pooh by his friend Christopher Robin.
