Batman Logo Painting

In addition to making a Batman crib mobile for my friend I also included a coordinating painting with the Batman logo and her son's name.

Cast Art

Never thought I'd be painting on a cast, but since my son broke his arm I gave it try. The first cast I painted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on his arm.

The second cast I tested my skills and painted Batman. He wanted me to position it closer on the inside of his arm so he could look at it. He was so excited to have a cast that had his favorite characters. 

Rocket Painting

Another painting for a sweet boy's room that I did awhile ago, but haven't posted. I did one for his older brother that was an airplane and train. I thought a rocket would be a great addition to their room.

Under the Sea Painting

I was asked to make a custom painting for a nursery via my Etsy page. I matched the nursery bedding called CoCaLo Turtle Reef. It has turtles and fish on the baby quilt. It turned out really cute and I hope the recipients are happy.

Custom Han Solo Stencil

So, it seems I took the entire summer off from blogging.  It wasn't on purpose, I promise. I seriously have 6 posts waiting to be posted, but I never got around to adding pictures to them.  Summer is always a little hectic around here.
Anyway, I've been cranking out stencils for my etsy shop and was asked to make a custom Han Solo stencil, which turned out great.  Here is the test print before I shipped the stencil.

Toucan Painting

I just finished up a painting of a Toucan for a boy nursery with a jungle theme.

Digital Paintings

I started experimenting with Digital Paintings.  It takes me a good amount of time to do a painting and I figured if I could draw it on the ipad I could produce them multiple times much quicker and for less.  I've only done a few, but here is one I drew of my daughter on the ipad and then printed it out with my printer.

Squirrel Painting

The squirrel painting is the last of my little woodland creatures.  I was amazed at how fast this painting came together. This one is my favorite.

Meadowlark Painting

Another painting complete, a meadowlark. I'm not sure why I thought this would be easy to paint.  It turned out to be more difficult than the other two woodland creatures I painted.  

Canvas Panel

I have a friend who has been in and out of the hospital this past month and wanted to send her something to cheer her up.  I found out from her sister what her favorite quote was and painted it on a canvas panel.  I don't usually use canvas panels, but I wanted it to fit inside a frame to stand up on a nightstand.  It worked fine as long as I removed the glass.  The quote is from Winnie the Pooh by his friend Christopher Robin.

Dandelion Painting

Here is a new painting I just finished for a little girl's room.  The dandelion mimics the fabric used in her bedroom so it will all coordinate.  I can't help it, it's the interior designer in me.

Princess Painting

I was able to finish the princess painting this week.  Yay!  It feels great to get a project completed. I really enjoyed working on this painting. I typically like to paint people, so it took me less time to paint it.  These little princesses are going into a "Princess basket" at my daughter's school and will be raffled off. Of course after I finished the painting my daughter asks if I can make her one like that for her room.

Icy Furniture

Today in Houston we are having icy weather. My daughter was really hoping for snow since we don't get to see it often, but it doesn't look like that will happen.  I found some icy furniture for the occasion.  Keep in mind that this is more art than actual furniture.

Hongtao Zhou is the designer for this furniture.  He has an interesting background as an artist, designer and engineer.  To see more of his work and learn more about him, click here. The first piece is actually made from ice and snow on Lake Mendota.

The next set is made from wax and looks like ice melting.  He titled it "burniture" since it can be lit on fire.

 

New Painting

A friend of ours just had little baby girl and to celebrate her birth I painted her a little something.  I found this ribbon and wanted to incorporate it into the painting.  I mimicked the design of the ribbon and used it in the border of the painting.  I had a totally different design painted in the middle originally, but it was just too busy.  I ended up repainting the middle and going with something a little more simple, polka dots.

Here is the other painting I was working on for my friend. I just finished it this weekend. I hope she likes the paintings I made for Nathan and Abigail's room.

Art Wire

My daughter started preschool this year and always comes home with cute artwork. I didn't really have a place to hang all her wonderful art projects. My fridge won't hold magnets so I needed to come up with another solution. We installed an art wire in her playroom so we can display her art projects from school. She is so excited to have her work on display for everyone. It was so easy and all the supplies can be found out your local hardware store.
