Squirrel Painting

The squirrel painting is the last of my little woodland creatures.  I was amazed at how fast this painting came together. This one is my favorite.

Here they all are together.

1920's Headpiece

We went to a really fun 1920's party that our neighbors hosted.  The flapper dress was made by my mom back when I was in college.  The only thing lacking in my costume was a headpiece.  I wanted something pretty and sparkly.  I waited till the last minute to work on this, so I headed over to the craft store and picked up a few jewelry pieces that I could combine.  The top piece is a beaded bracelet and the piece in the middle is a pendant.
First, I cut out a circle out of thin cardboard and wrapped it in black fabric.  Then I hot glued the bracelet in a U-shape on to the fabric covered cardboard.  I had a bit of a problem gluing the pendant since the surface was no longer flat with the bracelet attached.  I made a spacer out of a bottle cap and glued it on and it worked perfectly.  Once the front was done I attached an alligator clip to the back.  I found the cute beaded headband at the store and clipped the two together.  I loved the way it turned out and received compliments on it all night.

Here's a picture of my husband and I dressed up in our 1920's outfits. We had a great time!

Meadowlark Painting

Another painting complete, a meadowlark. I'm not sure why I thought this would be easy to paint.  It turned out to be more difficult than the other two woodland creatures I painted.

Nursery Design

I have a few design projects going on and I thought I'd show you one of them today.  This is for a friend of mine who is expecting a baby boy.  There isn't a theme, but we've been working with sort of a Gulf of Mexico/Nautical theme. The color palette is mainly shades of blue, green and light neutrals.  To give the room a pop of color we are thinking of painting the Ikea dresser green.  I think the room is going to turn out so cute!

Swing Table

When I first saw this table, an image of 8 adults sitting or should I saw swinging around this table while having some sort of business meeting came to mind.  It cracked me up.  The swing table was designed by Duffy London.  If you go to their website you will see all sorts of creative furniture, lighting and accessories on their website.

Blongo Ball

So, I can't take any credit for this project.  It was all my husband's handiwork. This game is called many names, Laddergolf, Blongo Ball, Bolo Ball or Polish Horseshoes.  We call it Blongo Ball.  He made this game to entertain the adults, but the kids loved playing it just as much.  It was all made from PVC pipe and fittings. Then each tier was sprayed with paint specifically for plastic. We purchased the blongo balls and went with the soft kind since I knew kids would be throwing them around as well.

At some point I'll get around to posting a project I completed.  I finished two projects recently and gave them away before I photographed them.  I should have some paintings up next week for you all to see.

Kindergarten Graduation

My little girl graduated from Kindergarten this past week and I can't believe this year went by so quickly.  It just amazes me that she'll be a first grader next year.  Where does the time go?  Now I just need to find a way to keep my kiddos busy this summer.  I see many days filled with swimming at the pool, riding bikes and heading to the beach to play.  I promise I'll get some projects done and keep blogging.  I'd just like to make sure we all have a little fun before she heads back to school in the fall as a first grader.  Yikes!
