Using a Stencil
I had a question come up on how to use stencils that involve multiple steps. I thought the easiest way to answer the question was to show it in process. This video shows how to use the owl stencil that is available in my Etsy shop, LilybugPaintings.

Under the Sea Painting
I was asked to make a custom painting for a nursery via my Etsy page. I matched the nursery bedding called CoCaLo Turtle Reef. It has turtles and fish on the baby quilt. It turned out really cute and I hope the recipients are happy.

Custom Stencils
I've received a few pictures from some happy customers that were pleased with how their custom stencil came out. I wanted to share them with you.
Here is one I made to represent the Wisconsin Badgers.
This onesie is a lion with ADPi Legacy stenciled at the top.
You can check out my Etsy shop if you would like to order a custom stencil.

Nursery Design
I have a few design projects going on and I thought I'd show you one of them today. This is for a friend of mine who is expecting a baby boy. There isn't a theme, but we've been working with sort of a Gulf of Mexico/Nautical theme. The color palette is mainly shades of blue, green and light neutrals. To give the room a pop of color we are thinking of painting the Ikea dresser green. I think the room is going to turn out so cute!

Toddler Bed
Well, my little boy is no longer a baby and has officially proved that he can not be contained in a crib. Here is proof that my child is a little monkey and can climb his way out or in anything.
See how easy that was, now watch me get back in the crib.
Once we witnessed this we got to work on making a toddler bed. My husband did most of the work on the toddler bed and we made it to look like the Nume bed that I posted about before. It turned out fantastic and Oakley loves it! He climbs through at the opening on the end and curls up in it.
His sister thought she should try it out too. Look mom, we both fit.
We sized the bed to fit his crib mattress which worked out perfectly. I think it is going to work great for him. Okay, now I think he's telling us he wants us to leave so he can go to sleep. Good night!

Painted Onesie
This past weekend while celebrating Easter my sister came in to town with a project in mind. She wanted to create painted onesie's for a baby shower that she's helping to throw. The party guests plan to each make one. So, we set out to make some examples and use them as possible party decorations. How cute would these be hanging up on a little clothesline on the wall?
If you want great results painting, especially with any sort of lettering on the shirt, your best friend is freezer paper. Freezer paper is awesome. You can use your computer printer and print your image and wording directly on the freezer paper and cut it out. Use the negative space as the stencil and iron it on to the shirt. Now you have a stencil that will produce a crisp image. Time for the fun part, painting. To paint the shirt you will need to use fabric paint. Once it is dry you can remove the stencil and see a cute little shirt.

Thank You Notes
I've been writing thank you notes as long as I can remember. My parents always stressed the importance of thanking people by a handwritten note. It really is a simple gesture that lets people know that you appreciate them. I love to make my own cards when I have the time. Here is one of my latest cards that I am sending out thanking a friend for a baby gift she sent me. I just love using my Cricut it really does some fun things. With this card I used the Sure Cuts A Lot program by Craft Edge. It works in conjunction with the Cricut and allows for you to come up with your own designs instead of needing a cartridge.
