Child size oven mitts

Now I'm not recommending you put your kiddo to work in the kitchen with these oven mitts, but they make a great addition to any play kitchen.  This year for Christmas I made my niece an apron and chef hat.  After I sewed that up I thought some oven mitts would be fun too.  Really easy and they turned out super cute.

I first cut out the material in the shape of an oven mitt.  Since there were some requests.  I've gone ahead and added the pattern of the oven mitt.

Then, I used a triangle to draw lines out on the oven mitt for me to sew.

Next I cut out a piece of batting and white muslin in the same shape.  Sandwich the batting between the patterned fabric and muslin and pin in place.

Sew on the lines to give it a quilted look.

Repeat this for the other side of the oven mitt.  Pin right sides together and sew around the edge leaving the bottom open.  Turn right side out and finish the raw edges of the opening with a piece of bias tape along the bottom.

Here is the apron that I made to match and the little cutie modeling her new cooking ensemble.

So behind

I feel like I'm so behind.  I've been focusing on my projects for SYTYC and haven't really had a chance to work on much else.  I can't wait to show you what I've been working on, but it will have to remain a secret until it has been voted on. I did get another apron done this weekend.  I can't even tell you how many aprons I have made anymore.  Sad, I know.

Cherries Take Two

I know, I know another apron.  I did warn you that there would be a birthday party this weekend and I would be making another little girl an apron and chef hat.  I just love making them because they make such a great gift and are so easy to make. I found another cherry print fabric and paired it with a red and white gingham fabric.  Now I need to start thinking of a project for a little boy for his birthday.

Cherries

Well, you guessed it we were invited to a birthday party and I made another apron.  This time I paired it with the chef hat.  Please do not be surprised if I have another apron post next week since we have a birthday party coming up.  You probably can't wait until I'm invited to a birthday party for boys.

Now We're Cooking

I felt like the apron needed a chef's hat.  I found the pattern here.  It's on the right hand of the page under tutorials. The hat is very simple and didn't take very long to make.  I think it will be a hit with the kids.  The apron was made by my mom.  She made us matching aprons for Christmas.  They are really cute!

Sweet Apron

Are you getting tired of my aprons yet?  At least I choose a new fabric combination each time.  This fabric has delicious sweets all over it.  My daughter thinks she needs this apron too, but it is going to one of her friends as a birthday present.

Another Apron

I made up another apron for a birthday present.  I really like this apple and pear fabric.  It makes a great apron. I used the same pattern as I did for the previous apron.  Here's the apron, minus my little model.  She was already asleep for the night.

Child's Apron

This past week I decided to sew up a little apron for a birthday present.  I found the pattern here.  I embellished it a bit by adding a ruffle to the bottom and front pockets.  It was pretty quick to sew up and turned out super cute.  Here's a picture of my daughter modeling the apron.  Notice her matching cherry socks.  She came up with that on her own.
