Right now I'm currently working on my audition project for So You Think Your Crafty. I can't tell you what it is, but I'm hoping it turns out really cool. I'm hoping to be chosen to be one of the 10 crafters that gets to compete each week. Since I've been working on that project I don't have anything new to show you today. I wish I did, but my kids have been keeping me pretty busy too.

New Painting
A friend of ours just had little baby girl and to celebrate her birth I painted her a little something. I found this ribbon and wanted to incorporate it into the painting. I mimicked the design of the ribbon and used it in the border of the painting. I had a totally different design painted in the middle originally, but it was just too busy. I ended up repainting the middle and going with something a little more simple, polka dots.

Treasure Drawer Desk
In honor of all the kids going back to school, I have found a child size desk. I thought this desk was so cute and modern. The Treasure Drawer Desk is designed by Roberto Gil. He has a great kid's collection of furniture that you can check out here.

Tags for School Bags
My daughter is headed back to school in a week. Hurray! Oh wait, did I just say that out loud. In preparation for her to go back to school I made some tags for her backpack and lunchbox. I bought some self laminating luggage tags at the office supply store and got to work making the tags. I cut scrapbook paper to a little smaller than the laminating tag to have an edge that it could stick to itself. I then cut her name out on the cricut and glued it on to the paper. The last step was to insert it in the laminating tag. A very easy project and it looks so nice when it is finished .

Painting Pottery
A week or so ago I went with some of my friends to the paint your own pottery place in town for a girls night out. We had a fantastic time chatting it up while we painted pieces of pottery. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to paint, but I decided on this little letter holder/napkin holder. I love how it turned out.

Cherries Take Two
I know, I know another apron. I did warn you that there would be a birthday party this weekend and I would be making another little girl an apron and chef hat. I just love making them because they make such a great gift and are so easy to make. I found another cherry print fabric and paired it with a red and white gingham fabric. Now I need to start thinking of a project for a little boy for his birthday.

Elastic Wood
Here are some pretty cool chairs from Bakery Design. I love the colors and designs they used in combination with the wood. The chairs are a blend of wood with an elastic material to make the chair more flexible. Bakery Design was founded by Gil Sheffi, Ran Amitai and Gilli Kuchik. They met while they studying at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem Israel. You can find more of their designs here.

Scrapbooks
I'm going to admit to you all that I'm not good at keeping up with my scrapbooks. I love the end product, but do not like how time intensive it is. I just finished up my daughters scrapbook up until her 2nd birthday. I'm only 2 years behind now. My daughter can't understand why I don't have her 3rd and 4th birthday in the scrapbook. I'm trying to make a real effort to start doing a couple pages a week so I can catch up, but I'm thinking that might be an impossible task with two kids underfoot. I will admit my daughter absolutely adores looking through the scrapbooks. This makes all the work worth it. This week I went ahead and painted on the front cover of her first scrapbook.

Color Change
I found a steal of a deal at Jo-Ann's the other day. I bought 2 of these metal art pieces that were marked 70% off. It was such a bargain that I bought them even though I didn't like the color. So, I bought a can a spray paint and repainted them and now I like them a hundred times more. It is amazing what changing the color can do.
Here is what it looked like before I painted it.
Here is what it looks like now. You can't really tell from the pictures, but the paint I picked resembles a hammered metal.

Cherries
Well, you guessed it we were invited to a birthday party and I made another apron. This time I paired it with the chef hat. Please do not be surprised if I have another apron post next week since we have a birthday party coming up. You probably can't wait until I'm invited to a birthday party for boys.

Diamond Sofa
Well, I missed last Friday's furniture post because my computer was in the middle of being reformatted. My computer caught a nasty virus and my wonderful husband was able to fix it for me.
Here is what I found for this Friday.
It is called the Diamond Sofa and is produced by Sand and Birch. The sofa is made up of aluminum and the widest band has swarovski crystals on it. This is a limited edition sofa and only 100 of them have been produced. Sand and Birch is located in Italy and the designers behind the company are Andrea Fino and Samanta Snidaro. You can find more of their intriguing furniture here.

Now We're Cooking
I felt like the apron needed a chef's hat. I found the pattern here. It's on the right hand of the page under tutorials. The hat is very simple and didn't take very long to make. I think it will be a hit with the kids. The apron was made by my mom. She made us matching aprons for Christmas. They are really cute!

Sweet Apron
Are you getting tired of my aprons yet? At least I choose a new fabric combination each time. This fabric has delicious sweets all over it. My daughter thinks she needs this apron too, but it is going to one of her friends as a birthday present.

Evan Painting
I just finished a painting for sweet little baby, Evan. I never get to do enough paintings for boys rooms and I went all out with a train and airplane. It takes me a day or so to come up with the composition of the painting in my head and then sketch it out on paper. Then I sketch it on to a canvas. I primarily use the 11 x 14 size canvas because they are easier for me to ship. Once the sketch is complete I can begin to paint with acrylics. Sometimes I can actually get it all painted in one sitting, but for the most part I have to break it up over a few days since the kids keep me on my toes all day.

Princess Hat
I finally finished the princess hat that I posted a picture of last week. I felted it and added the fabric to the top. It might have been a wasted effort because my princess is complaining that it is itchy. Oh well, at least she took a picture in it for me. Now I can move on to the next knitting project.

Sleeping Cutie
Here is a picture of my daughter in her flower girl dress or what she refers to it as her "Sleeping Cutie Dress". She was very excited to be a flower girl in my brother's wedding and took her job very seriously. She can be a little OCD and made sure there was a petal placed in front of each pew. My niece was also a flower girl, but unfortunately I don't have any photos from the wedding or I would show you how cute they are in their matching dresses. This gorgeous dress was made by my mom. She sews the most amazing dresses.
Here is a picture of both my kids together. Didn't my mom do a wonderful job on their outfits?

The Littlest Groomsman
My brother was married the weekend before last and we all went to wish him and his new bride well. The wedding was beautiful and we had a fabulous time! I wanted to share with you the tux my mom made for my son. It was very comfortable for him since it was a cotton onesie and pants. I have to say he was quite handsome in his little tux.
